Joel Haspel, Founder
Joel Haspel is the founder of Cogent New Media, and a senior advisor to the Cogent Analysis Group. He has more than a decade of business, technical, and marketing experience in the private sector. Following several years as an independent technology consultant, Joel founded and managed several technology-oriented companies, including AliVE Multimedia Group, Bid Outlet, and Plethora Technology. He was instrumental in raising capital, designing and implementing strategic marketing plans, obtaining patent and trademark protection for core intellectual property, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Joel’s specific areas of expertise include:
- the use of “new media” approaches to 21st century marketing, including social review sites like Yelp, social networks like Facebook and LinkedIn, online advertising programs like Google Adwords, and search engine optimization
- reseller channel program design and implementation
- intellectual property protection
- computer network security
- design and management of large scale technical documentation including user manuals
- business management, including the startup process, fundraising, financial management and modeling, and technical and communications infrastructure
Joel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia, which he earned with High Distinction.
